I figured that, as it's been so long since I've actually been active here, I'd redo this!
About Me
Q: How do I pronounce your name?
A: Sæ-l
ēs (as in "say" and "lease"); you can call me Cey if just the one syllable is easier.
Don't feel silly if you didn't know; I've been with my fiancé for a year and he
still can't pronounce my name!
Q: Are you a boy or a girl?
A: Whoa there, Professor Oak! I'm neither—or both! Being nonbinary means I don't fit either box in the Western gender binary.
My pronouns are ey / em / eir (Spivak), however, I know that might be a bit hard for some people, so feel free to use they / them!
Q: How do I use your pronouns?
A: A good way to remember them is that they're practically identical to they / them pronouns without the th, and they use singular grammar (like with he and she).
Example:
Ey is [
Ey's] an artist. The artwork belongs to
em.
Eir name is Ceylis. Cey made that
emself.
Again, if that's too difficult, just call me "they". If you must, "he" is an option as well.
Q: How old are you?
A: Eighteen years and counting as of 2017!
Q: You're disabled? But I've seen you walk before!
A: I can walk, but that doesn't mean I
should; I have a genetic disorder known as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, amongst other things, which cause chronic pain and joint instability; these days, I use crutches and a cane to get around, though I'll always take the wheelchair option if I can, because it's easiest on my poor body. I also need to wear a mask over my face and am in need of an oxygen concentrator, though all this really adds up in cost, hence the
fundraiser. I also have Tourette's Syndrome.
About My Work
Q: What projects are you working on right now?
A: I don't currently have a list, but I am working on it!
Q: What tools, programs, and materials do you use?
A: As a digital artist, I use a Huion Giano WH1409 graphics tablet! It's pretty big, and it's wireless, so perfect for someone like me, since I'm a mess, and mainly stuck on bedrest.
Programs, I tend to switch around with; for those who have been watching me since before my year-long hiatus, you might recall that I used to use Autodesk Sketchbook, but I've recently switched to Medibang, and am going to be messing about with Krita to see if it suits me or not in the near future. I still use GIMP for some projects though.
Q: How long does it take you to finish a piece?
A: Depending on the style and sort of lining and colouring on the piece, it can take me upward of a couple of months of 8+ hours a day, 5+ days a week to finish a piece; I take my art very seriously, and put the most effort I possibly can into it.
Mix disability in with that, and it can take even longer because of the lack of energy I have.
Requests, Commissions, Conventions, Etc.
Q: When will you open requests?
A: When I have the time and energy for them, whilst commission slots are closed. If you're happy with a non-committal request, go check out my Tumblr for open prompts, and send me an ask—you may just get what you're looking for!
Q: Are commissions open?
A: Not right now; check my profile or my Tumblr for when they're opening.
Q: How much will commissions be when they open?
A: I'm currently still working that out, but currently? The ballpark is at somewhere between $20 to $100 (USD) a piece, and I only have the intention to open two slots at a time across all platforms (dA, Tumblr, and AO3)
Q: Can we do a collab?
A: Maybe; check if I'm open for collabs at the time, and if I am, shoot me a note.
Q: Are you going to any conventions this year?
A: I'm going to PAX Australia 2017, but currently don't have any other cons scheduled, as I don't have much money; these tickets were a gift from a friend. If you see me wandering around in a wheelchair, come say hi!
